A Video Intervention Reduces Racial Bias in a Representative Sample of US Adults: A Brain as Predictor Study
This peer-reviewed PLOS ONE article by Yilong Wang and Paul J. Zak tests whether a neurologically immersive video can reduce racial bias and increase prosocial behavior in a representative sample of U.S. adults.
The study first used neurophysiologic Immersion to identify a high-impact video, then tested that video against a neutral control in a national sample. The intervention improved reported attitudes toward Black Americans, increased generosity in a hypothetical sharing task, and showed effects that persisted at a two-week follow-up.
GTI is sharing the original article because it connects measurable social-emotional engagement with scalable approaches to reducing out-group bias.
